THE SUITS WILL FIND YOUR FUN AND THEY WILL BUY IT OUT FROM UNDER YOU
by Brad Liening
Earrings were cool. Certain brands were cool
then nothing was cool. The woods
shimmered with spiders. Brains
flurried with stars were uncool,
little red wagons full of blood
were predictable and so worse than death
which was to be avoided, even if death itself
was cool. Nobody knew
what to think about love though some suspected
it existed invisibly in the seams of things.
It was hard to tell because we were
languishing in fin de siècle degeneracy,
the coolest way to languish.
The auto plant closed then closed again.
Beer cans stacked in a silver pyramid.
